Good morning brothers and sisters. It is indeed a pleasure to fellowship with you this morning and have you share with me some ideas for consideration as we attempt to gauge the effects of the far reaching Lucifer Rebellion. In considering the effects of the Lucifer Rebellion will shall also include the Caligastia disaffection and the Adamic Default as a part of this Rebellion though technically Adam and Eve did not participate in the rebellion but was caught up in it due to the dire circumstances existing on the planet as a result of the Rebellion. But their failure has contributed to the far reaching problems that we continue to contend with, particularly in the biologic Arena. The Lucifer Rebellion started 200 thousand years ago. As far as our planet is concerned, the full impact of it hit us as were still in a very primitive stage of development with devastating consequences. We shall see some of the ways that this rebellion affected our planets and as we shall see how the effects of this rebellion continue to play havoc with our planets as we struggle on towards the goal of time-the Era of Light and Life. But first let’s look at some background information.

Who was Lucifer? The Mighty Messenger tells us that P.601 §1 “Lucifer was a brilliant primary Lanonandek Son of Nebadon. He had experienced service in many systems, had been a high counselor of his group, and was distinguished for wisdom, sagacity, and efficiency. Lucifer was number 37 of his order, and when commissioned by the Melchizedeks, he was designated as one of the one hundred most able and brilliant personalities in more than seven hundred thousand of his kind. From such a magnificent beginning, through evil and error, he embraced sin and now is numbered as one of three System Sovereigns in Nebadon who have succumbed to the urge of self and surrendered to the sophistry of spurious personal liberty rejection of universe allegiance and disregard of fraternal obligations, blindness to cosmic relationships.

Here we see the unchallengeable right of free will given to his creatures by the Universal Father as well as the ruinous damnation that results when that will refuses to aligned with him for we are told that P.602 §6 “No one ever suggested rebellion to Lucifer. The idea of self assertion in opposition to the will of Michael and to the plans of the Universal Father, as they are represented in Michael, had its origin in his own mind. His relations with the Creator Son had been intimate and always cordial. At no time prior to the exaltation of his own mind did Lucifer openly express dissatisfaction about the universe administration. Notwithstanding his silence, for more than one hundred years of standard time the Union of Days on Salvington had been reflectivating to Uversa that all was not at peace in Lucifer's mind. This information was also communicated to the Creator Son and the Constellation Fathers of Norlatiadek.

As Lucifer continued with his ideas of self assertion, we are told that P.602 §7 “Throughout this period Lucifer became increasingly critical of the entire plan of universe administration but always professed wholehearted loyalty to the Supreme Rulers. His first outspoken disloyalty was manifested on the occasion of a visit of Gabriel to Jerusem just a few days before the open proclamation of the Lucifer Declaration of Liberty. Gabriel was so profoundly impressed with the certainty of the impending outbreak that he went direct to Edentia to confer with the Constellation Fathers regarding the measures to be employed in case of open rebellion.”
As we are aware in our own experiences when we consider some significant decision, there are many times many variables that go into making life changing decisions and sometimes it is very difficult to pinpoint the exact influence that caused the decision to be made, and this apparently was the case with Lucifer. Again we are told that P.603 §1 “It is very difficult to point out the exact cause or causes which finally culminated in the Lucifer rebellion. We are certain of only one thing, and that is: Whatever these first beginnings were, they had their origin in Lucifer's mind. There must have been a pride of self that nourished itself to the point of self deception, so that Lucifer for a time really persuaded himself that his contemplation of rebellion was actually for the good of the system, if not of the universe. By the time his plans had developed to the point of disillusionment, no doubt he had gone too far for his original and mischief making pride to permit him to stop. At some point in this experience he became insincere, and evil evolved into deliberate and willful sin.”

The outworking of all this internal thinking was presented in the form of a manifesto. P.604 §3" The Lucifer manifesto was issued at the annual conclave of Satania on the sea of glass, in the presence of the assembled hosts of Jerusem, on the last day of the year, about two hundred thousand years ago, Urantia time. Satan proclaimed that worship could be accorded the universal forces physical, intellectual, and spiritual but that allegiance could be acknowledged only to the actual and present ruler, Lucifer, the "friend of men and angels" and the "God of liberty."

P.604 §4 Self assertion was the battle cry of the Lucifer rebellion. One of his chief arguments was that, if self government was good and right for the Melchizedeks and other groups, it was equally good for all orders of intelligence. He was bold and persistent in the advocacy of the "equality of mind" and "the brotherhood of intelligence." He maintained that all government should be limited to the local planets and their voluntary confederation into the local systems. All other supervision he disallowed. He promised the Planetary Princes that they should rule the worlds as supreme executives. He denounced the location of legislative activities on the constellation headquarters and the conduct of judicial affairs on the universe capital. He contended that all these functions of government should be concentrated on the system capitals and proceeded to set up his own legislative assembly and organized his own tribunals under the jurisdiction of Satan. And he directed that the princes on the apostate worlds do the same.

P.603 §2 Whatever the early origins of trouble in the hearts of Lucifer and Satan, the final outbreak took form as the Lucifer Declaration of Liberty. The cause of the rebels was stated under three heads:

P.603 §3 1. The reality of the Universal Father. Lucifer charged that the Universal Father did not really exist, that physical gravity and space energy were inherent in the universe, and that the Father was a myth invented by the Paradise Sons to enable them to maintain the rule of the universes in the Father's name. He denied that personality was a gift of the Universal Father. He even intimated that the finaliters were in collusion with the Paradise Sons to foist fraud upon all creation since they never brought back a very clear cut idea of the Father's actual personality as it is discernible on Paradise. He traded on reverence as ignorance. The charge was sweeping, terrible, and blasphemous. It was this veiled attack upon the finaliters that no doubt influenced the ascendant citizens then on Jerusem to stand firm and remain steadfast in resistance to all the rebel's proposals.
P.603 §4 2. The universe government of the Creator Son Michael. Lucifer contended that the local systems should be autonomous. He protested against the right of Michael, the Creator Son, to assume sovereignty of Nebadon in the name of a hypothetical Paradise Father and require all personalities to acknowledge allegiance to this unseen Father. He asserted that the whole plan of worship was a clever scheme to aggrandize the Paradise Sons. He was willing to acknowledge Michael as his Creator father but not as his God and rightful ruler.

P.603 §5 Most bitterly did he attack the right of the Ancients of Days "foreign potentates" to interfere in the affairs of the local systems and universes. These rulers he denounced as tyrants and usurpers. He exhorted his followers to believe that none of these rulers could do aught to interfere with the operation of complete home rule if men and angels only had the courage to assert themselves and boldly claim their rights.

P.603 §6 He contended that the executioners of the Ancients of Days could be debarred from functioning in the local systems if the native beings would only assert their independence. He maintained that immortality was inherent in the system personalities, that resurrection was natural and automatic, and that all beings would live eternally except for the arbitrary and unjust acts of the executioners of the Ancients of Days.

P.604 §1 3. The attack upon the universal plan of ascendant mortal training. Lucifer maintained that far too much time and energy were expended upon the scheme of so thoroughly training ascending mortals in the principles of universe administration, principles which he alleged were unethical and unsound. He protested against the agelong program for preparing the mortals of space for some unknown destiny and pointed to the presence of the finaliter corps on Jerusem as proof that these mortals had spent ages of preparation for some destiny of pure fiction. With derision he pointed out that the finaliters had encountered a destiny no more glorious than to be returned to humble spheres similar to those of their origin. He intimated that they had been debauched by overmuch discipline and prolonged training, and that they were in reality traitors to their mortal fellows since they were now co operating with the scheme of enslaving all creation to the fictions of a mythical eternal destiny for ascending mortals. He advocated that ascenders should enjoy the liberty of individual self determination. He challenged and condemned the entire plan of mortal ascension as sponsored by the Paradise Sons of God and supported by the Infinite Spirit.

Now let’s distill out these attitudes as we shall trace them as they have made their way down through the centuries:

Sin: Concerning sin the Mighty Messenger tells us that P.754 §5 "There are many ways of looking at sin, but from the universe philosophic viewpoint sin is the attitude of a personality who is knowingly resisting cosmic reality. Sin is not intended to be apart of man’s ascension experience, but evil is. Consider this statement by Jesus. P.1660 §5 "By nature, before the rebirth of the spirit, mortal man is subject to inherent evil tendencies, but such natural imperfections of behavior are neither sin nor iniquity. Mortal man is just beginning his long ascent to the perfection of the Father in Paradise. To be imperfect or partial in natural endowment is not sinful. Man is indeed subject to evil, but he is in no sense the child of the evil one unless he has knowingly and deliberately chosen the paths of sin and the life of iniquity. Evil is inherent in the natural order of this world, but sin is an attitude of conscious rebellion which was brought to this world by those who fell from spiritual light into gross darkness. P.1661 §4 "... The presence of evil alone is sufficient test for the ascension of man sin is not essential to survival.” Concerning the effects on Sin on Urantia we are taught that P.761 §5 Sin on Urantia did very little to delay biologic evolution, but it did operate to deprive the mortal races of the full benefit of the Adamic inheritance. Sin enormously retards intellectual development, moral growth, social progress, and mass spiritual attainment.” As we who are now living in present view the increasing unethical and moral decay of our times, thoughtful students of these problems scratch their head and wonder how this all got started while religionists who have not been able to grasp a satisfactory concept of the Universal Father and His Divine plan proclaim the end is near, that a cataclysmic judgment by God is imminent. But the roots of this moral and ethical problem lay some two hundred thousand years in the past. Ponder this: P.382 §4 “The Urantia peoples are suffering the consequences of a double deprivation of help in this task of progressive planetary spiritual attainment. The Caligastia upheaval precipitated world wide confusion and robbed all subsequent generations of the moral assistance which a well ordered society would have provided.” It is far easier to choose good over evil when the societal structure rewards rather than punishes. We are all aware of the fate of whistle blowers in the corporate world and even within government. But even the increased sensitivity to spiritual reality was derailed by “the Adamic default in that it deprived the races of that superior type of physical nature which would have been more consonant with spiritual aspirations.”

What about intellectual development? In the matter of Intellectual development we are told that P.593 §5 “The result of the gift of the Adamic life plasm to the mortal races is an immediate upstepping of intellectual capacity and an acceleration of spiritual progress. There is usually some physical improvement also. On an average world the post Adamic dispensation is an age of great invention, energy control, and mechanical development. This is the era of the appearance of multiform manufacture and the control of natural forces; it is the golden age of exploration and the final subduing of the planet. Much of the material progress of a world occurs during this time of the inauguration of the development of the physical sciences, just such an epoch as Urantia is now experiencing. Your world is a full dispensation and more behind the average planetary schedule. Were it not for the Lucifer Rebellion and the subsequent Adamic default, our planet would be well into the era of the first stages of Light and Life. And we are also told that P.626 §10 The great handicap confronting Urantia in the matter of attaining the high planetary destiny of light and life is embraced in the problems of disease, degeneracy, war, multicolored races, and multilingualism.

Yes it is true that we are plagued with the problems of degeneracy, war, multicolored races and multilingualism, diseases, a society that tolerates P.2086 §6 “. . . science without idealism, politics without principles, wealth without work, pleasure without restraint, knowledge without character, power without conscience, and industry without morality.” And again the genesis of this situation goes back to the Lucifer Rebellion. P.747 §0 “During the confusion attendant upon rebellion, the Caligastia defection destroyed the hope of the world for a universal language, at least for untold ages.. Due to the far reaching effects of the Lucifer Rebellion and the Adamic Default, the animalistic strains from the human species were never purged, and these animalistic strains have been preserved right on down to modern times where they continue to manifest deleterious effects on the efforts of society to move forward. P.586 §1 “. . . [The] whole scheme of race improvement was early wrecked on Urantia.” P.592 §4 “This problem of race improvement is not such an extensive undertaking when it is attacked at this early date in human evolution. The preceding period of tribal struggles and rugged competition in race survival has weeded out most of the abnormal and defective strains. An idiot does not have much chance of survival in a primitive and warring tribal social organization. It is the false sentiment of your partially perfected civilizations that fosters, protects, and perpetuates the hopelessly defective strains of evolutionary human stocks.”

And the revelators have been very candid about this situation and they bluntly tell us that P.592 §5 “It is neither tenderness nor altruism to bestow futile sympathy upon degenerated human beings, unsalvable abnormal and inferior mortals. There exist on even the most normal of the evolutionary worlds sufficient differences between individuals and between numerous social groups to provide for the full exercise of all those noble traits of altruistic sentiment and unselfish mortal ministry without perpetuating the socially unfit and the morally degenerate strains of evolving humanity. There is abundant opportunity for the exercise of tolerance and the function of altruism in behalf of those unfortunate and needy individuals who have not irretrievably lost their moral heritage and forever destroyed their spiritual birthright.”

Denial of the Reality of the Universal Father: This erroneous idea find itself firmly entrenched in modern times first in the inability to develop suitable concepts of the Universal Father. For we are told that P.60 §2 “The people of Urantia continue to suffer from the influence of primitive concepts of God. The gods who go on a rampage in the storm; who shake the earth in their wrath and strike down men in their anger; who inflict their judgments of displeasure in times of famine and flood these are the gods of primitive religion” But even worst than this is the idea that there is no God which a significant portion of our society maintains, passing this pernicious error to their offspring. And while our religions continue with the primitive concepts of God, our science continue to advance under the banner of nature without the recognition of the First Source just such a concept the Lucifer promulgated when he says that the forces of the universe could be worship but not the source of the forces which he denied as having their genesis in God.. The worship of anything short of God can only lead to self destruction in the spiritual sense. Worship taught Jesus makes the one who worships like the One he worships. And since God is eternal, the worship of Him will make the creature eternal. Immortality and resurrection of mortals can only happen because the Being who is causing this is immortal himself and has the power of life and death.

Even the religionists not to mention the Secularists do not live lives with a spiritual purpose as their goal. As we observe our brothers and sisters, it is easy to discern that the supreme goal of their lives is material not a spiritual goal. Concerning this error we are told that P.1096 §3 “The goal of human self realization should be spiritual, not material. The only realities worth striving for are divine, spiritual, and eternal. Mortal man is entitled to the enjoyment of physical pleasures and to the satisfaction of human affections; he is benefited by loyalty to human associations and temporal institutions; but these are not the eternal foundations upon which to build the immortal personality which must transcend space, vanquish time, and achieve the eternal destiny of divine perfection and finaliter service.”

And we continue to struggle with the error of “Equality of mind" and "the brotherhood of intelligence." We are spending enormous sums of money on our educational efforts to educate everyone as if they have the same intellectual capacity. Concerning the purpose of education we are taught that P.43 §5 “ The real purpose of all universe education is to effect the better co ordination of the isolated child of the worlds with the larger realities of his expanding experience. Reality is finite on the human level, infinite and eternal on the higher and divine levels.

Concerning Causation, Duty and Worship, we are told that P.192 §7 “It is the purpose of education to develop and sharpen these innate endowments of the human mind; of civilization to express them; of life experience to realize them; of religion to ennoble them; and of personality to unify them.” In addition we are told that P.806 §1" . .. The purpose of education should be acquirement of skill, pursuit of wisdom, realization of selfhood, and attainment of spiritual values. And that furthermore “The purpose of all education should be to foster and further the supreme purpose of life, the development of a majestic and well balanced personality.” But our educational efforts are fragmented and these three innate endowments of the human mind aside from causation have been left to develop by chance along.

We have confused the reality of equality of the spirit with the erroneous idea of equality of the mind. And even though experience continues to reveal to us that there is no equality of intelligence, we continue to ignore it and only redouble our efforts to try to actualize this error. At the present time our educational system now struggles with the “No Child Left Behind” doctrine. And while the sentiments of this doctrine are noble, it ignores the fundamental truth that human beings are not created equal. And as long as our systems continues to channel every child down an academic road, the waste of money and unmet expectations will continue for we know that error can never be actualized, but of course we don’t recognize that it is error. And it is only experience that can rectify this error for we are told that P.554 §6 P.555 “. . Sometimes error is so great that its rectification by revelation would be fatal to those slowly emerging truths which are essential to its experiential overthrow.

And I am afraid that is true for most of the problems that we have associated with the Lucifer Rebellion. Even the latest revelation that we have, the Urantia Book can not yet be received by the masses. Concerning revelation we are told that it P.1007 §1 “. . . is evolutionary but always progressive. Down through the ages of a world's history, the revelations of religion are ever expanding and successively more enlightening. It is the mission of revelation to sort and censor the successive religions of evolution. But if revelation is to exalt and upstep the religions of evolution, then must such divine visitations portray teachings which are not too far removed from the thought and reactions of the age in which they are presented. Thus must and does revelation always keep in touch with evolution. Always must the religion of revelation be limited by man's capacity of receptivity.

Disrespect for the evolutionary process. Since Lucifer did not respect the evolutionary process, he could not envision the effects that would occur if his ideas were allowed to continue. The Mighty Messenger tell us that P.614 §8 “Lucifer's folly was the attempt to do the nondoable, to short circuit time in an experiential universe. Lucifer's crime was the attempted creative disenfranchisement of every personality in Satania, the unrecognized abridgment of the creature's personal participation freewill participation in the long evolutionary struggle to attain the status of light and life both individually and collectively. In so doing this onetime Sovereign of your system set the temporal purpose of his own will directly athwart the eternal purpose of God's will as it is revealed in the bestowal of free will upon all personal creatures. The Lucifer rebellion thus threatened the maximum possible infringement of the freewill choice of the ascenders and servers of the system of Satania a threat forevermore to deprive every one of these beings of the thrilling experience of contributing something personal and unique to the slowly erecting monument to experiential wisdom which will sometime exist as the perfected system of Satania. Thus does the Lucifer manifesto, masquerading in the habiliments of liberty, stand forth in the clear light of reason as a monumental threat to consummate the theft of personal liberty and to do it on a scale that has been approached only twice in all the history of Nebadon.”

And so with Caligastia who also participated in the Lucifer Rebellion. The Mighty Messenger informs us that P.1302 §4" The iniquity of Caligastia was the by passing of the time governor of progressive human liberation the gratuitous destruction of restraining barriers, barriers which the mortal minds of those times had not experientially overridden. P.1302 §5 That mind which can effect a partial abridgment of time and space, by this very act proves itself possessed of the seeds of wisdom which can effectively serve in lieu of the transcended barrier of restraint.

P.1302 §6 Lucifer similarly sought to disrupt the time governor operating in restraint of the premature attainment of certain liberties in the local system. A local system settled in light and life has experientially achieved those viewpoints and insights which make feasible the operation of many techniques that would be disruptive and destructive in the presettled eras of that very realm.

And now that I have summarized some of the problems associated with the Lucifer Rebellion which have persisted down to modern times, I shall now try to attempt to chronicle some ideas and suggestions that I think will remedy some of these effects. I think the greatest intellectual resource that we have at our command at this time is the revelations contained in the Urantia Book. Not only does this book make us aware and instruct us what is wrong with our planets but also give numerous suggestions as to how we may overcome the lingering influence of rebellion. Consider this passage: P.382 §6 “Notwithstanding this double disaster to man's nature and his environment, present day mortals would experience less of this apparent warfare between the flesh and the spirit if they would enter the spirit kingdom, wherein the faith sons of God enjoy comparative deliverance from the slave bondage of the flesh in the enlightened and liberating service of wholehearted devotion to doing the will of the Father in heaven. Jesus showed mankind the new way of mortal living whereby human beings may very largely escape the dire consequences of the Caligastic rebellion and most effectively compensate for the deprivations resulting from the Adamic default.”

We are now living in the Post Bestowal Son Age, but we are tardy in realizing the benefits of this age. Concerning this age and our status in it we are told that P.597 §2 “The bestowal Son is the Prince of Peace. He arrives with the message, "Peace on earth and good will among men." On normal worlds this is a dispensation of world wide peace; the nations no more learn war. But such salutary influences did not attend the coming of your bestowal Son, Christ Michael. Urantia is not proceeding in the normal order. Your world is out of step in the planetary procession. Your Master, when on earth, warned his disciples that his advent would not bring the usual reign of peace on Urantia. He distinctly told them that there would be "wars and rumors of wars," and that nation would rise against nation. At another time he said, "Think not that I have come to bring peace upon earth."

P.597 §3 “Even on normal evolutionary worlds the realization of the world wide brotherhood of man is not an easy accomplishment. On a confused and disordered planet like Urantia such an achievement requires a much longer time and necessitates far greater effort. Unaided social evolution can hardly achieve such happy results on a spiritually isolated sphere. Religious revelation is essential to the realization of brotherhood on Urantia. While Jesus has shown the way to the immediate attainment of spiritual brotherhood, the realization of social brotherhood on your world depends much on the achievement of the following personal transformations and planetary adjustments:

P.597 §4 1. Social fraternity. Multiplication of international and interracial social contacts and fraternal associations through travel, commerce, and competitive play. Development of a common language and the multiplication of multilinguists. The racial and national interchange of students, teachers, industrialists, and religious philosophers.

P.597 §5 2. Intellectual cross fertilization. Brotherhood is impossible on a world whose inhabitants are so primitive that they fail to recognize the folly of unmitigated selfishness. There must occur an exchange of national and racial literature. Each race must become familiar with the thought of all races; each nation must know the feelings of all nations. Ignorance breeds suspicion, and suspicion is incompatible with the essential attitude of sympathy and love.

P.597 §6 3. Ethical awakening. Only ethical consciousness can unmask the immorality of human intolerance and the sinfulness of fratricidal strife. Only a moral conscience can condemn the evils of national envy and racial jealousy. Only moral beings will ever seek for that spiritual insight which is essential to living the golden rule.

P.598 §1 4. Political wisdom. Emotional maturity is essential to self control. Only emotional maturity will insure the substitution of international techniques of civilized adjudication for the barbarous arbitrament of war. Wise statesmen will sometime work for the welfare of humanity even while they strive to promote the interest of their national or racial groups. Selfish political sagacity is ultimately suicidal destructive of all those enduring qualities which insure planetary group survival.

P.598 §2 5. Spiritual insight. The brotherhood of man is, after all, predicated on the recognition of the fatherhood of God. The quickest way to realize the brotherhood of man on Urantia is to effect the spiritual transformation of present day humanity. The only technique for accelerating the natural trend of social evolution is that of applying spiritual pressure from above, thus augmenting moral insight while enhancing the soul capacity of every mortal to understand and love every other mortal. Mutual understanding and fraternal love are transcendent civilizers and mighty factors in the world wide realization of the brotherhood of man. I believe that we form that nucleus, the first of many generations who are destined to provide that spiritual leadership that will transform society. Ponder well these statements: P.2082 §9 “Religion does need new leaders, spiritual men and women who will dare to depend solely on Jesus and his incomparable teachings. If Christianity persists in neglecting its spiritual mission while it continues to busy itself with social and material problems, the spiritual renaissance must await the coming of these new teachers of Jesus' religion who will be exclusively devoted to the spiritual regeneration of men. And then will these spirit born souls quickly supply the leadership and inspiration requisite for the social, moral, economic, and political reorganization of the world.”

How do we solve the problems of racial degeneracy and the numerous diseases that we battle with day by day? Sometime ago while I was working at the prison the idea of conditional prerogative of reproduction came to my mind. Now this concept is based upon the idea that a given individual has a right to be here, but he does not necessarily have the right to reproduce his/her self unless they can demonstrate that they have the means to take care of their offspring. Already we have the means to identify a substantial number of genetic diseases. And the systematic application of this knowledge will go along way in eradication certain diseases that we continue to struggle. In a sense we have already begun to progress down this road-and we can begin to see this idea unfolding in its primitive form. The Welfare reforms recently instituted show the beginning of a society that is unwilling to support unconditionally others who bring offspring into the world without any visible means of caring for that offspring. Welfare use to be a generational status. Where whole generations follow each other on the state dole, but no longer. The time on welfare for most of these situations is fixed. And of course we all recognize the fairness of it if not the mercy of it, namely it is unfair for a given individual knowingly to bring another individual into this world for somebody else to take care of.

The evolutionary process has produced human beings. The Life Carrier tells us that P.734 §3 “Mankind on Urantia must solve its problems of mortal development with the human stocks it has no more races will evolve from prehuman sources throughout all future time. But this fact does not preclude the possibility of the attainment of vastly higher levels of human development through the intelligent fostering of the evolutionary potentials still resident in the mortal races. That which we, the Life Carriers, do toward fostering and conserving the life strains before the appearance of human will, man must do for himself after such an event and subsequent to our retirement from active participation in evolution. In a general way, man's evolutionary destiny is in his own hands, and scientific intelligence must sooner or later supersede the random functioning of uncontrolled natural selection and chance survival.”

And we are told P.770 §8 “From a world standpoint, overpopulation has never been a serious problem in the past, but if war is lessened and science increasingly controls human diseases, it may become a serious problem in the near future. At such a time the great test of the wisdom of world leadership will present itself. Will Urantia rulers have the insight and courage to foster the multiplication of the average or stabilized human being instead of the extremes of the supernormal and the enormously increasing groups of the subnormal? The normal man should be fostered; he is the backbone of civilization and the source of the mutant geniuses of the race. The subnormal man should be kept under society's control; no more should be produced than are required to administer the lower levels of industry, those tasks requiring intelligence above the animal level but making such low grade demands as to prove veritable slavery and bondage for the higher types of mankind.” Our educational system must be revamped. We are given an example of an improved educational system in the paper on “Government on Neighboring Planet” No doubt this was given to stimulate new ideas concerning education. We are told that

P.812 §3 “The educational system of this nation is compulsory and coeducational in the precollege schools that the student attends from the ages of five to eighteen. These schools are vastly different from those of Urantia. There are no classrooms, only one study is pursued at a time, and after the first three years all pupils become assistant teachers, instructing those below them. Books are used only to secure information that will assist in solving the problems arising in the school shops and on the school farms. Much of the furniture used on the continent and the many mechanical contrivances this is a great age of invention and mechanization are produced in these shops. Adjacent to each shop is a working library where the student may consult the necessary reference books. Agriculture and horticulture are also taught throughout the entire educational period on the extensive farms adjoining every local school.

P.812 §4 The feeble minded are trained only in agriculture and animal husbandry, and are committed for life to special custodial colonies where they are segregated by sex to prevent parenthood, which is denied all subnormals. These restrictive measures have been in operation for seventy five years; the commitment decrees are handed down by the parental courts.

P.812 §5 Everyone takes one month's vacation each year. The precollege schools are conducted for nine months out of the year of ten, the vacation being spent with parents or friends in travel. This travel is a part of the adult education program and is continued throughout a lifetime, the funds for meeting such expenses being accumulated by the same methods as those employed in old age insurance.

P.812 §6 One quarter of the school time is devoted to play competitive athletics the pupils progressing in these contests from the local, through the state and regional, and on to the national trials of skill and prowess. Likewise, the oratorical and musical contests, as well as those in science and philosophy, occupy the attention of students from the lower social divisions on up to the contests for national honors.

P.812 §7 The school government is a replica of the national government with its three correlated branches, the teaching staff functioning as the third or advisory legislative division. The chief object of education on this continent is to make every pupil a self supporting citizen.

P.813 §1 Every child graduating from the precollege school system at eighteen is a skilled artisan. Then begins the study of books and the pursuit of special knowledge, either in the adult schools or in the colleges. When a brilliant student completes his work ahead of schedule, he is granted an award of time and means wherewith he may execute some pet project of his own devising. The entire educational system is designed to adequately train the individual.”

I think that there is much to learn from the example of this planet’s educational system. Some of these ideal will help us quite a bit not only in our educational efforts but also in our efforts to curtail the increase in genetic unfit individuals. Regardless of our past and the abuses that we witnessed during World War II with the Nazi Regime, if we don’t act on this matter it will eventually strangle our whole society. The Urantia Book tell us that P.585 §4 paraphrasing, that the original races were supposed to be blended and upstepped by the Adamic uplifters, but before such a step was implemented, the inferior and unfits strains were supposed to be eliminated. The Planetary Prince and Material Son and other planetary authorities such as life carriers were to be judges, but of course the Planetary Prince went into rebellion and Adam and Eve Defaulted. And we are told that “the difficulty of executing such a radical program on Urantia consists in the absence of competent judges to pass upon the biologic fitness or unfitness of the individuals of your world races. Notwithstanding this obstacle, it seems that you ought to be able to agree upon the biologic disfellowshiping of your more markedly unfit, defective, degenerate, and antisocial stocks. We pray that the Heavenly Father will give us the courage and wisdom to proceed in the right direction.

But in closing I would remind us that we know that all things work together for good for those who love God and choose to do his will. And so we will close not on the problematic focus that we have discussed for the last 20 minutes or so but shall close on an inspiring truth. And we are giving tremendous glimpse of that truth that we have become recipients of as a result of the isolation of our planet because of the Lucifer Rebellion. We have become a unique group of souls. We have become the mighty Agondontors. Ponders these faith inspiring and hope transmitting statements: P.578 §6 “On first thought it might appear that Urantia and its associated isolated worlds are most unfortunate in being deprived of the beneficent presence and influence of such superhuman personalities as a Planetary Prince and a Material Son and Daughter. But isolation of these spheres affords their races a unique opportunity for the exercise of faith and for the development of a peculiar quality of confidence in cosmic reliability which is not dependent on sight or any other material consideration. It may turn out, eventually, that mortal creatures hailing from the worlds quarantined in consequence of rebellion are extremely fortunate. We have discovered that such ascenders are very early entrusted with numerous special assignments to cosmic undertakings where unquestioned faith and sublime confidence are essential to achievement.

P.579 §1 On Jerusem the ascenders from these isolated worlds occupy a residential sector by themselves and are known as the agondonters, meaning evolutionary will creatures who can believe without seeing, persevere when isolated, and triumph over insuperable difficulties even when alone. This functional grouping of the agondonters persists throughout the ascension of the local universe and the traversal of the superuniverse; it disappears during the sojourn in Havona but promptly reappears upon the attainment of Paradise and definitely persists in the Corps of the Mortal Finality. Tabamantia is an agondonter of finaliter status, having survived from one of the quarantined spheres involved in the first rebellion ever to take place in the universes of time and space.” And with that brothers and sisters, I conclude my presentation.
